Crash Team Racing had multiple game modes, variety of in-game pick-ups which made the game more fun to play.Īlthough there are many other kart racing games out there in the market, we recommend you to try out this classic and judge yourself if it is a game fit to be in this list or not. The game was developed by Naughty Dog for PS1 and it was the 4th instalment in the Crash Bandicoot series.Įven though the game had some ups and downs with the audio quality, Crash Team Racing was one of the best games of its generation both in mechanical and graphical terms. Crash Team Racing Crash Team RacingĬrash Team Racing is the first kart racing game that I grew up playing. We aren't sure about that but one thing we are sure about is that we had fun. It was the vast open-world, the story, colossus or the sheer beauty of the game that mesmerized us. Wander must travel across a vast expanse on horseback and defeat sixteen massive beings, known simply as colossi. The game's storyline focuses on a young man named Wander who enters a forbidden land.

Unlike other games, Shadow of Colossus does not have any NPCs to talk to, dungeons or caverns to explore or a variety of enemies to defeat. We had to add Shadow of Colossus in the list as it is one of the best action-adventure games we played way back in our PS2.

Shadow of Colossus is an action-adventure PS2 exclusive title which was cited as one of the most influential games ever. Shadow of Colossus Shadow of the Colossus While CTR isn't a bad game, I just feel like there are better options.#2. I'd rather stick with playing Mario Kart 8 on 200cc. But the game isn't satisfying enough to keep me playing. I understand that if I spend enough time on CTR I'd have a better time with it. It should also be noted that Mario Kart 8 doesn't have microtransactions and mobile game style unlocks. On CTR, if you get hit by a couple items while playing on hard, you're pretty much done. If you're playing Mario Kart 8 on 200cc, you can get hit by a blue shell and still be able to recover and win, as long as your driving skill is good enough. The items in CTR are not implemented well. On Crash Team Racing, this isn't necessarily the case. While the ai players are going faster, you're going faster too. As a result, playing on higher difficulty settings require you to be more knowledgeable of the track, and have more skill at maneuvering your kart. On Mario Kart, your kart goes faster on higher difficulty settings. In comparison, Mario Kart's difficulty settings work a bit different. The increase in difficulty feels artificial though. I understand that the difficulty is based on how fast I'm able to drive the track. The only thing that changed on the hard setting was how the ai players acted. I was able to easily win every race with no problem. I started out playing on easy to get a feel for the game.

The reason I feel that way is because of the difficulty settings, the items, and the microtransactions. The reason I feel that way is because of the difficulty settings, the items, and the This game is poor man's Mario Kart in my opinion.
